DULUTH, Minn. — A fire at a Duluth apartment building left one person dead Thursday morning.

The Duluth Fire Department said in a press release crews were dispatched to the 600 block of 47th Avenue E just before 2:30 a.m.

Residents of the seven-plex were evacuated as firefighters saw light smoke, but no fire, coming from the first floor.

Officials said it only took a few minutes to take down the fire, but a person was found dead in the apartment where the fire started. No information about the victim was given.

No one else in the apartment complex was hurt. Officials said damage was limited to the apartment where the fire started and no one who lives in the building is displaced. The damage is estimated at $25,000.
