HAWLEY, Minn. - A single engine plane making an emergency landing after its engine failed collided with a vehicle on Highway 10, according to authorities.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened around 11:50 a.m. on Highway 10, west of Hawley, Minn. in Clay County.
The pilot of the plane took off from the Hawley airport, heading west to Minot, North Dakota.
Once the plane reached 1,000 feet, the engine quit and the pilot was forced to find a spot for an emergency landing.
The plane made a successful emergency landing on Highway 10 but quickly caught up to a Ford Fusion that was heading eastbound on the highway.
The driver noticed the plane in her rear-view mirror as it was barreling down on her car, according to the report.
The plane prop struck the rear of the Ford's driver's side before the car went into the ditch.
No injuries were reported.
The plane was eventually pushed off the road into a residential driveway.
The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
