24 cited during protest against Netanyahu's Congressional speech in Minneapolis

At least 100 people were protesting in Minneapolis Wednesday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Congress.

MINNEAPOLIS — Protestor blocked Washington Avenue S in Minneapolis Wednesday evening in protest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking to Congress.

The Free Palestine Coalition began their protest outside of Sen. Amy Klobuchar's Minneapolis office, then moved to the area of 12th Avenue W and the southbound access to I-35W.

Many at the protest wore red t-shirts that said "arrest Netanyahu" and waved Palestinian flags.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, 24 people were arrested and cited for failure to obey a lawful order.

Organizers said the Minneapolis protest was in solidarity with protests happening Wednesday in Washington D.C. The Associated Press reports some of those protests "turned chaotic."

Netanyahu spoke to lawmakers about the ongoing war that began when some 1,200 people in Israel were killed on Oct. 7. The Associated Press reports 39,000 people in Gaza have died.
