The inaugural PWHL champions are moving from the ice to the pavement taking to the streets of Minneapolis to serve as Grand Marshals of the Aquatennial Torchlight Parade.
Goalie Nicole Hensley and defender Lee Stecklein will lead the nighttime parade through downtown, followed by bands, performers and organizations from across Minnesota. The parade starts July 24 at 7:30 p.m. on Nicollet Mall.
Stecklein grew up in Roseville and played for both the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Whitecaps. She is a three-time Olympic medalist and won three national championships with the Gophers.
Hensley was the first goalie selected in the PWHL draft and backstopped Minnesota to the first-ever Walter Cup. She is a two-time Olympic medalist and hails from Lakewood, Colo.
