Recall issued for some Lunds & Byerlys guacamole products

A voluntary recall has been issued for some Lunds & Byerlys guacamole.

MINNEAPOLIS — Some Lunds & Byerlys fresh guacamole products are being voluntarily recalled after a potential contamination with Listeria. 

According to the recall notice, the guacamole was sold at Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores in the Twin Cities area and St. Cloud, and all have a use-by date of Aug. 2. 

The recalled products are:

Lunds & Byerlys Fresh Guacamole - 14 ounce

Lunds & Byerlys Fresh Smokin’ Guacamole - 10 ounce

Lunds & Byerlys Fresh Spicy Guacamole - 10 ounce

Lunds & Byerlys Pico de Gallo/Guacamole Tray - 18 ounce

Lunds & Byerlys Deli Guacamole - 56 ounce

The guacamole was also available at some locations ‘Taco Mas’ food bars from July 27-31, the company said. 

The company has stopped making and distributing these products are they investigate the potential contamination, which was found during routine sampling.  

According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weak immune systems, as well as in young children and elderly people. The FDA says healthy people might see short-term symptoms including high fever, headache, stiffness, and nausea. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. 

According to the recall notice, no illnesses have been reported as of Aug. 2. 

If you purchased the recalled guac, you are urged by the FDA to destroy it or return it to any Lunds & Byerlys for a refund.
