PLAINVIEW, Minn — Heavy snow is taking on a very literal meaning across Minnesota as roofs collapse from Moorhead to Winona.
And in Plainview, a pole barn full of classic cars is totaled. The roof and piles of snow now rest on top the vehicles, including an RV and a collector Corvette.
The owner, Dave Doane, is an older man very well known in the community.
"They were in mint condition, and yes, he was very proud of his cars and it was spotless. So this is sure a sad situation and I'm sure it hurts the whole family," said Mary Evers.
In Winona, debris filled the swimming pool at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites after the roof caved early Sunday morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the business stayed open and the damage was contained just to the pool area.
In Moorhead, parishioners are saying it's a miracle no one was inside St. Francis de Sales Catholic church when it's roof collapsed.
The church was empty only because they had canceled morning mass. Otherwise there would have been many people inside for mass, a pancake breakfast, and youth meetings.
The heavy snow combined with rain can be devastating to these structures.
And people have had enough.
"I'm waiting for spring. I want to mow lawn," Evers said.
