GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — A senior dog named Baby Girl is back home with her owner for the holidays, thanks to some local volunteers on a cross-country road trip.
Ruff Start Rescue, an animal rescue organization based out of Princeton, Minnesota, said Baby Girl and her owner, who is also a senior, got separated in November when her owner moved to Texas and couldn't afford to bring the dog with her.
But luckily a group of rescue volunteers who were traveling to Texas to save nearly three-dozen dogs before heading back to Minnesota had some room for the tiny pup.
"It's not typically something the team can logistically pull off during transports," Kelly Plummer with Ruff Start Rescue said in an email, "but they were thrilled they could make it happen this time."
Volunteers who helped transport Baby Girl down south said "Baby Girl and her mom were both crying as they embraced and held each other. I've never actually seen a dog cry, and Baby Girl had tears running down her cheeks."
