MINNEAPOLIS — A man is dead after a shooting in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood.
In a press release, Minneapolis police said officers were called to the 600 block of University Avenue for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with life-threatening gunshot injuries lying in the street near the intersection of University Avenue and 6th Street Southeast.
Emergency responders worked to save the man's life on the scene and he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man who was killed as 40-year-old Kenneth Johnson of Wayne, Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 31. Johnson's cause of death was listed as a homicide.
Police said that preliminary information indicates the shooting was related to a fight between a group of people that happened inside Mr. Santana, a market and deli, at 601 University Avenue Southeast.
There have been no arrests, police said.
