"We're playing volleyball and we are out to win," said Ken Gerde, a member of the team.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Just off 494 this afternoon in a nondescript office park the All-Stars gathered.

The Alton Memory Care All-Stars that is, by noon on Tuesday, were moments away from another challenge in their quest to stay perfect.

"We've got a darn good team here. We'll take you on we will come to you. We'll bring the net and ball and you better practice because we are good," Mike Lorenz of Stuart Companies. He's talking about the team of volleyball players from Alton Memory Care in St. Paul.

Cue the walk up song.

Witness the swagger.

Because for the 13 wins and zero losses Alton All-Stars, there is no reason to fear Tuesday's match against the Stuart Staff, match number fourteen.

"We're playing volleyball and we are out to win," Ken Gerde, a player said.

Over two years never one loss.

No nerves moments before.

Because while the glory of the last win escapes the All-Stars.

Each player on the team lives with memory loss, the present never is less than a gift.

"They live in the moment. They don't worry about the past. They don't worry about the future, they live right now," Lorenz said.

The opponents were a generation behind in years and are the caregivers for the All-Stars for a living.

But the all-stars don't give a care.

All in all, it takes the team 20 minutes to stay perfect.

The big fella, Ken, drives it home on his fourth spike for the win.

And when you grab the MVP and ask him how they just never seem to fall short he keeps it simply, perfect.

"Just we are good today. As always," Ken said with a smile.

Always may not get filed away in the memory bank.

But when every day you win.

Who needs to fall back on the last time.
