ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Hundreds of people will be out of a job by the end of the year after officials with a St. Cloud distribution center announced it would be permanently closing its facilities.
Fulfillment Distribution Center, Inc. (FDC) President Dave Baldwin sent a letter to the Minnesota Department of Employee and Economic Development's (DEED) State Rapid Response Team Friday saying about 320 employees will be laid off because it was losing its only customer. In the letter, Baldwin explained that FDC's only customer, Publishers Clearing House, was closing down its e-commerce line of business.
"Gradual job losses are expected to start by about mid-August and possibly up to December 31, 2024," wrote FDC President Dave Baldwin in the letter. "This will affect about 320 employees during this time period. Starting October 4, we anticipate a skeletal crew will remain temporarily on site for final floor clean up and final administrative functions, such as payroll."
Baldwin anticipates FDC, which is located at 720 Anderson Avenue, will cease operations by Oct. 4.
According to a statement from the DEED, none of the employees are represented by a union.
