ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. — It hardly feels like fall but St. Louis Park is getting a head start on the winter season with an outdoor ice rink.
In a press release, the city stated that it opened Monday and is believed to be the first outdoor refrigerated ice rink installed this season in the state.
City staff spent 36 hours building the rink, measuring 1.5 inches thick with ice. If you'd like to check it out, the Recreation Outdoor Center is located at 3700 Monterey Dr.
On Oct. 11, volunteers will break in the rink by skating 35 laps to raise money for cancer in the Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Frozen 5k.
