Woman dies following crash with St. Paul Fire Department vehicle

The crash between the fire truck and a sedan occurred just before 7 p.m. near 7th Street E. and Cedar Street in St. Paul, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

ST PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a collision between a St. Paul Fire Department engine and a sedan claimed the life of an elderly woman. 

The crash occurred between the fire truck and a Chevy Malibu just before 7 p.m. near 7th Street E. and Cedar Street in St. Paul, according to state patrol investigators. The fire truck was traveling south on Cedar St. while the Chevy Malibu was traveling west on 7th St. , and the 2 vehicles collided in the intersection. 

The female passenger of the Malibu - identified as 76-year-old Diane Kyte of Northfield - died as a result of her injuries. Kyte's 77-year-old husband, who was driving the Chevy, suffered less serious injuries.  

None of the three occupants of the fire truck were injured.
