MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) says it's responding to multiple reports of spinouts and crashes in west-central Minnesota as a winter storm system makes its way across the state Tuesday.

A tweet from MSP around 5:15 p.m. said troopers were working to clear 12 crashes, spinouts and jackknifed semis in the region. A video posted by the State Patrol shows a vehicle in the ditch along Interstate 94, about five miles east of Moorhead.

The storm, bringing a combination of rain, snow, ice, sleet and wind, is projected to dump several inches of snow — up to 11 — in some parts of the state, mostly to the north and west. A blizzard warning has also been issued along the North Shore, where they're expecting the most snow.

The KARE 11 weather team forecasts the Twin Cities metro could see accumulation of up to 1 inch as cold rain transitions to wet snow overnight Tuesday.

A lull in the storm is expected in the southern portion of the state, including the metro, Wednesday, but snow is expected to fall again Thursday and Friday. As the system moves out Saturday, it will bring colder air for Sunday into the remainder of the holiday week.
