Feeling safe and secure is important when it comes to a person's quality of life, and a recent study says Minnesota is a pretty good place to live when it comes to that.
Personal finance website WalletHub said Minnesota is the eighth-safest state in America, based on data collected by researchers in a number of different life segments. All 50 states were ranked across 52 key safety indicators grouped into five different categories: Personal & Residential Safety, Financial Safety, Road Safety, Workplace Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Data sets included things like assaults per capita and fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven to total losses from climate disasters.
Here are a few categories that pushed Minnesota to its relatively high ranking.
Safety in Minnesota (1=Safest; 25=Avg.)
- Overall rank for Minnesota: 8th
- 12th – Murders & Non-Negligent Manslaughters per Capita
