ST PAUL, Minn. — Officials said a 16-year-old has died a week after being shot in the abdomen in St. Paul.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, police were called to the area of Western Avenue North and Topping Street just after 1 a.m. when a caller reported a male had been shot.

When officers arrived at the North End neighborhood, they found a 16-year-old Kalven Sin Suy, of Savage, with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. Emergency responders took him to Regions Hospital. Police said at that time they believed his injuries were life-threatening.

On Feb. 16, police said officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Western Avenue North and arrested a 17-year-old male in relation to the shooting. He was placed at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated robbery and assault.

Officials were told on Feb. 18 that Sin Suy had died of his injuries at Regions Hospital, police said in a press release.

On Wednesday, the Ramsey County Attorney's Office filed a petition to charge their 17-year-old suspect with murder and aggravated robbery.
