CARVER, Minn. - A mishap on icy roads in Carver County Tuesday night left a teenager dead and a second motorist injured.
The State Patrol says the crash occurred on County Road 11 and White Pine Way just before 9:30 p.m. An 18-year-old driving a Chevy Malibu in the southbound lanes lost control of her vehicle and slid into oncoming traffic. A 32-year-old man driving a Dodge pickup attempted to avoid the teen's car but struck it broadside on the passenger side.
The young woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash, while the other driver was taken to the hospital.
Investigators note the road conditions were icy at the time of the crash due to mixed precipitation.
