The Minnesota State Fair has launched a new official app for 2024.

You can navigate the Minnesota State Fair this summer from the palm of your hand.

When you open the Minnesota State Fair 2024 app, you'll see a screen with a dozen options for information, including food and transport. You'll also find an interactive map, and you can buy your entry, grandstand or rides tickets all through the app. You can also create a favorites list to keep track of the things you want to do and see.

The new app replaces the previous web-based version. If you have the old app you will need to download the new one. The new app is available for download in the Apple and Google Play stores.

There are plenty of other new things coming to the fair this year. Besides new food vendors (read more about that here) there will be a new Cats and Dogs exhibition, located in the North End Event Center. This sensory and interactive exhibit will take people "on a journey to understanding and decoding the behavior of these beloved, entertaining (and sometimes confounding) fluffy family members."

Don't forget the exhilaration: There are two new Midway Rides to look forward to. The Kraken is a pendulum-style ride that is 80 feet tall and stretching its limbs to 147 feet high. There is also The Defender, a new propeller ride with "fast-action movements and dazzling lights."

The Minnesota State Fair starts Aug. 22 and runs through Sept. 2. You can visit the KARE 11 Barn on Nelson Street between Carnes and Judson Avenues.
