MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines announced it has launched a new mobile app for travelers to keep track of flight information, a move that comes as a multi-year initiative to enhance the travel experience for its customers.
Chief Marketing Officer Colton Snow said easing that experience is a top priority for Sun Country. The app, available in both Apple and Google Play stores, allows users to book, re-book or cancel their flights, while also letting them manage any additional changes to their travel plans "on the go."
“In anticipation of a busy 2024 summer travel season, the airline is prioritizing a new digital experience and one-stop-shop travel solutions,” said Jim Stathopoulos, senior vice president and chief information officer for Sun Country. “More digital access for our customers will enhance their day of travel.”
According to Snow, the new app is only part of Sun Country's longtime investment to offer customers a continuation of digital tools, among them, a new reservation platform, self-service resources to address delays and a mobile-friendly website.
“In 2019, as part of the airline’s transformation into a low-cost carrier focused on leisure travel, Sun Country invested in a new reservation platform and mobile-friendly website that improved the customer experience in exploring destinations, booking, and managing their trips. The new app is a continuation of those tools for our customers,” he said.
Snow added the airline chose the timing for the release in "anticipation of a busy 2024 travel season."
"The time was right to focus on meeting our customers where they are during their day of travel, and the app is a next step to accomplish that.”
