Tornado touched down Tuesday evening near Rollingstone

Officials say the twister caused damage to trees, power lines and a few barns.

ROLLINGSTONE, Minn. — A tornado touched down in southeastern Minnesota Tuesday evening causing damage to trees, power lines and a few barns, according to officials.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, Wisconsin confirmed an EF-1 touched down in Winona County near Rollingstone, Minnesota and ended near Merrick State Park in Wisconsin. No injuries were reported but officials are estimating peak wind speeds to be about 105 mph. 

NWS confirmed two other EF-1 tornadoes Tuesday evening in Wisconsin — one near Unity and another near Cochrane. The tornado near the Village of Unity had a peak speed of 110 mph, while the Cochrane twister topped out at around 90 mph, according to weather officials. There were also reports of damaged trees and power lines near Cochrane.

Thousands of people are still without power after Tuesday's wave of storms, including about 300 across the metro.
