EXCELSIOR, Minn. — Editor's note: The video above first aired on KARE 11 on Dec. 2, 2022.
The popular Excelsior chocolate shop Truffle Hill Chocolates will reopen this weekend, about 10 days after burglars broke into the business late last month.
In a Facebook post, Truffle Hill said it'll reopen on Friday, Dec. 9 at noon.
"I would say if we didn't feel that community support you wouldn't see the products on the shelves that you see," store owner Marshall Morehead said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 29, Morehead said people broke into the business, stole a computer and money, and emptied three fire extinguishers throughout the store.
All of the confections made by chocolatiers Jen Debord and Kristen Moline, about 11 garbage bags worth, had to be thrown out.
"Something like this is probably the worst thing someone could do. Especially to a food business," Morehead said.
But thanks to an outpouring of support, and a deep clean from a local restoration company, the shop is able to reopen in time for the busy holiday season.
While anyone with a sweet tooth is welcome to visit the store in person, Truffle Hill says online orders are still on pause. To place an order or ask questions, you can contact Truffle Hill at info@trufflehillchocolates.com.
"This is the time of the year for a place like this," Morehead said.
Anyone with information on the burglary and vandalization can contact South Lake Minnetonka Police at 952-474-3261.
