TSA anticipates busiest holiday season in history

Yet the travelers KARE 11 talked with said it was a pretty easy experience.

ST PAUL, Minn — The Transportation Security Administration is anticipating this to be the busiest holiday travel season in history with 2.9 million passengers traveling across the country on Sunday alone.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission is expecting just over 43,000 travelers through Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) on Sunday, putting it in the top five percent of busiest days of the year.

Yet the travelers KARE 11 talked with said it was a pretty easy experience.

"Pretty easy, pretty easy, " said Amarion Meshack, after traveling to Las Vegas.

Robert Beverly and Moses Chambers agreed.

"It was actually one of the smoothest transitions getting through security," said Chambers.

They see eye to eye on that, but not everything with Beverly wearing Vikings gear and Chambers proudly declaring, "Bears fan!"

"I'm the older wiser, brother," Chambers said.

KARE 11 also found a family traveling for another sport at the airport.

"His skis are small enough to fit in the checked bag so it's a nice age for travel," said Ellie Bursch from Duluth, talking about her son, Frankie. "For Thanksgiving, we went to Snowmass, Aspen, to visit some friends who've moved out there from Minnesota."

Sunday's numbers don't top the Thursday of MEA, which saw almost 50,000traveling through MSP's security but, still, Sunday was certainly a busy day with a lot of people happy to be home or, in the case of Beverly and Chambers, happy to be here for Monday's game.

"Skol Vikings!" said Beverly.

"Go Bears! chanted Chambers.
