BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — University of Minnesota researchers have launched a project to study coyotes and foxes in the Twin Cities metro area.

The Twin Cities Coyote and Fox Project aims to "map habitat use, assess diets, and measure disease prevalence for foxes and coyotes in the Twin Cities Metro Area," according to its website.

Researchers said studying the animals will help them understand how foxes and coyotes use city settings, while also gathering information for wildlife managers and residents alike.

A tweet from the Bloomington police department noted that project researchers are set to being live capturing coyotes and foxes in the city, to fit them with GPS collars to track their movements.

Anybody who spots a gray fox, red fox or coyote is encouraged to report their observations to researchers at this link.
