URBANK, Minnesota — A UTV rollover crash in west-central Minnesota has claimed the life of a young man from the Netherlands.
Otter Tail County sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Jim Jan was a passenger in the UTV that crashed just after 9:15 a.m. Sunday near the community of Urbank. Responding deputies found that Jan was thrown from the vehicle during the rollover crash, and the UTV then landed on him. Other people on the scene attempted to remove the side-by-side UTV from the victim but were unable to.
Jan was pronounced dead on the scene.
The 43-year-old driver of the UTV was evacuated by air ambulance after suffering serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown.
Otter Tail County investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
Urbank is located about 40 miles southeast of Fergus Falls.
