Valleyfair reopens rides, parking lot after flooding

Two weeks ago, these rollercoasters were 14 feet underwater.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Editor's Note: The video above originally aired June 28, 2024.

Valleyfair reopened two popular rides and the parking lot after flooding forced them to close in June.

The rollercoasters were under 14 feet of water on June 28, but since then the water has receded. The park operated as normal throughout that time with parking options further from the venue.

Valleyfair posted on Facebook that Renegade opened Monday and Excalibur opened Tuesday. Thunder Canyon, the final ride affected by flooding, has not reopened as of Wednesday.

Outside of the gates of Valleyfair, Shakopee dealt with significant flooding. City officials said the Minnesota River crested at 719.4 feet in Shakopee on June 29, which landed slightly higher than the 1993 flood, which crested at 719.29 feet.
