DULUTH, Minn. — One person was injured on Saturday night after a tour boat struck a breakwater near Duluth.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that 84 people were on board the Vista Star around 10:45 Saturday night when emergency crews got a report the vessel was against the breakwater but not taking on water.

Crews were also told one person had been injured. When the U.S. Coast Guard responded, they evacuated the injured person and took them to Loon's Foot landing, then to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Officials said one person injured their head and hip.

Several other people were assessed for minor injuries, officials said.

When crews arrived at the site, they found the Vista Star listing to one side in five-foot waves. Officials said the crew was able to maneuver the 92-foot-long vessel off of the breakwater. Crews from the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, U.S. Coast Guard and Duluth Fire helped escort the Vista Star under its own power back to the Minnesota Slip, where it docked.

This incident is still under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

The Vista Star can carry up to 220 people on sightseeing tours and cruises around Duluth and the North Shore.
