Are you struggling to come up with a Halloween costume?
Freightgeist by Google Trends shared some of the top-searched ideas across the nation and in the Twin Cities metro. Maybe you can pick up a few ideas from this list.
Google searchers in the Twin Cities area kept it classic with popular kids characters from movies and other media.
- Hello Kitty: This costume is adorable and easy to put together from your existing wardrobe! With white clothing, a red bow and cat ears, you already look like this friendly kitty.
- Winnie The Pooh: This timeless childhood character is a heartwarming choice. With a red shirt and yellow pants (and maybe a jar of honey), you've got your costume!
- Minion: These cute sidekicks from "Despicable Me" can be a great solo or group costume. With overalls, yellow clothing, goggles and yellow face paint, you can have a blast as these silly guys.
- Harry Potter: Yer a wizard, Harry! This character can usually be spotted in Gryffindor colors (red and gold) or in a long black robe.
- Inflatable cow: As the most Midwestern costume on the list, this costume will garner a lot of laughs and appreciative moos.
As for costumes trending across the nation, searchers got a little more niche with their Google inquiries, picking costume ideas from popular movies, current events and video games.
- Shrunken head Bob: If you've seen the cult classic movie "Beetlejuice" or its 2024 sequel "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," this spooky - yet silly - guy has a tiny shriveled head atop a large body. You might be better off buying this costume from a store, as it comes with a distinct blue head and suit with a see-through flap that allows you to hide your real head inside the clothing.
- Raygun: The Australian breakdancer will return (via Halloween costume) after her viral stint at the Olympics this summer. This costume could easily be thrifted or crafted from clothing at home - you'll need a green and yellow track suit, hat and kangaroo-like dance moves.
- CatNap: This creepy purple cat is an antagonist in the survival horror video game series "Poppy Playtime." You could craft this costume at home with purple clothing and gloves. As for the smiling purple face, it might be easier to buy a mask, but face paint could be a fun alternative.
- Delores: Another "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" character, this costume includes a long black dress with lace or tulle accents. If you'd like to commit to the bit, use eyeliner to draw fake stitches on your face.
- Pomni: This cartoon jester hails from the animated web series, "The Amazing Digital Circus." With blue and red clothing and a jester cap, Pomni would make for a fun and colorful costume.
