DULUTH, Minn. — With the rainstorms leading to extreme flooding in northern Minnesota, there were a lot of questions surrounding Grandma's Marathon on Saturday, June 22.
The event includes a 5K race, and a half and full marathon on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth.
The rain totals have been racking up in the north country, particularly in nearby St. Louis County where downtown Cook is underwater. But the race is still on — for now.
Officials waited until race day to make the final call and on Saturday morning decided that conditions were still favorable for the annual run.
After the big race, organizers planned a "Rock the Bayfront" party with live music and entertainment at Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park.
