Frostbite can happen any time temperatures dip below freezing, and in conditions like those expected this week, it occurs quickly. If you start to experience frostbite, here are five things M Health Fairview says you should know:

  • Get inside as soon as possible if you notice numbness or a change in skin color
  • Rewarm the affected area slowly.
  • Blisters are a sign you need medical attention.
  • Certain medical conditions increase your risk for frostbite.
  • Prevention is key.
