HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating a possible alligator attack after a woman was found dead near Horsepen Bayou in Clear Lake.
Police said the victim's husband reported her missing early Tuesday morning. He told HPD that she went for a walk around 7:30 p.m. Monday and never returned.
The HPD dive team found the woman's remains in the jaws of an alligator near Coastal Oak Drive just west of El Dorado Boulevard, not far from her home on Brook Forest Drive. An HPD sergeant shot and killed the gator "to prevent it from doing more damage to the remains."
Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine her cause of death and whether it was the alligator who killed her.
The name of the woman in her 60s hasn't been released.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
