Woman killed in central MN crash

The Minnesota State Patrol said the collision happened at the intersection of State Highway 371 and County Road 13 in Nisswa, Minnesota Monday night.

NISSWA, Minn. — A Zimmerman woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Brainerd Monday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the collision happened at the intersection of State Highway 371 and County Road 13 in Nisswa, Minnesota, a small town about two hours north of the Twin Cities, just before 11 p.m.

According to the crash report, a Chevy Impala was traveling southbound on Hwy 371 when the driver, a 16-year-old girl, attempted to make a left turn onto CR-13. Officials said their initial investigation showed the teen failed to yield to a Chevy Silverado truck moving north, colliding with it in the intersection.

A passenger in the Impala, 40-year-old Ashley Gamm, died at the scene. A separate passenger, a 16-year-old boy, suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

The State Patrol said the driver of the Silverado and his two passengers were unharmed.

According to authorities, everyone involved was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
