SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Two people were sent to the hospital Saturday after a suspect fleeing officers crashed into a police squad in Saint Paul's Frogtown neighborhood.

According to police, a SWAT Team attempted to arrest a man suspected in a narcotics investigation just after 6:30 p.m. in the area of Lafond Avenue and Arundel Street in Saint Paul. The man fled his arrest, speeding away in a vehicle on Lafond Avenue.

Police said the suspect turned west on Lafond Avenue and when he reached the area near Milton Street he drove head-on into a marked Saint Paul Police squad patrolling the area.

A woman who was a passenger in the suspect's crashed car was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The officer involved in the crash was also taken to Regions with non-life-threatening injuries.
