Man stabbed while walking around Markgrafs Lake in Woodbury

Officials say they don't believe the incident was a random act of violence and aren't looking for any other suspects.

WOODBURY, Minn. — Police in Woodbury are investigating after a man was assaulted while walking around Markgrafs Lake on Thursday, Feb. 1. 

Officials said officers were contacted around 3:30 p.m. about an assault involving a knife on the south side of the lake. At that time, police found a man and took him to Regions Hospital. 

The injured man was not able to provide any information about his attacker, police said. 

On Friday, Feb. 2, officials provided an update, saying their investigation revealed the attack was not a random act of violence and that police were no longer seeking any other involved persons. 

Police also said they did not believe there was any threat to the community. 

On social media, police posted that "Our community's safety is always our first priority... we appreciate the interest and concern that our residents have regarding safety in Woodbury."
