Overnight standoff in Woodbury ends peacefully with suspect in custody

Officers said a man was threatening himself and others inside the townhome on Tahoe Road with a weapon. The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 7 a.m.

WOODBURY, Minn. — Woodbury police took a man into custody around 6:45 a.m. Monday following an hours-long standoff inside a townhome.

Earlier around midnight, police responded to a disturbance at the 6100 block of Tahoe Rd. When they got to the scene, officers were told the situation was resolved, but within two hours, squads were dispatched to the scene again for a second disturbance.

People inside the residence told officers the man was threatening himself and others with a weapon. Police helped everyone escape the home, but the suspect remained barricaded inside for at least two more hours.

Neighboring townhomes were evacuated overnight while the threat continued, but residents were allowed to return by 7 a.m. Washington County SWAT was called in to assist.

This is a developing story and updates will be posted as more information is available.
