Yam Haus band member crushed by tree, recovering in hospital

Guitarist Zach Beinlich said the accident occurred when he was helping his parents move debris from Monday's storm.

MINNEAPOLIS — A band member in the local band Yam Haus is recovering after he was crushed by a tree while cleaning up debris from the storms in the metro.

The Minneapolis-based band produces indie pop music and has about 122,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Guitarist Zach Beinlich posted on Instagram that he was helping his parents move debris after Monday's storm and "had a tree at least 1,000 pounds fall and crush [his] body."

Beinlich said his parents managed to get the tree off and he is now recovering at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He said his injuries were not life-threatening but he broke five ribs and a collarbone and punctured a lung.

The band shared on Instagram that this accident will postpone plans for the band, but they are prioritizing Beinlich's recovery.

Paul Charchian, the owner of GuillotineLeagues.com, shared on X that Beinlich texted him after the accident saying that while he was in the ambulance, he made his fantasy football pick. Many of the commenters are curious to know who he picked.
