Former KARE 11 anchors Paul Magers and Joan Steffend will both be inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Magers was the evening news anchor at KARE 11 for 20 years and most recently worked at KCBS in Los Angeles for 13 years. After almost 40 years in the news business, Magers announced his retirement in March of this year.

Steffend came to KARE 11 from KBJR in Duluth, and from KARE she went on to host several programs on HGTV. She has appeared on Oprah, Live with Regis and Kelly, and the Today Show, and has written two books.

On Thursday, the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame announced its five 2017 inductees. Magers and Steffend were named along with John Hines, Joe Soucheray and Paul Stagg.

The induction ceremony will be Sept. 30, 2017, at the Pavek Museum in St. Louis Park. The Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame has inducted 194 members since 2001.
