Mall of America celebrates Halloween with Nickelodeon Boo-niverse

Pumpkins are the theme of MEA weekend at Boo-niverse.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Mall of America's Nickelodeon Universe is getting a new name for the Halloween season - Nickelodeon Boo-niverse.

The spooky remodel will include the new (temporary) park name 'Boo-niverse,' themed events and some specialty foods.

To help navigate all the seasonal activities in the park, pick up a Halloween Park Map at any Guest Service Desk in October. The map will have a full list of Halloween events and foods to hunt down.

The map is part of the fun too! You can unfold it to reveal a collectable poster from the new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

The Fright Lights Halloween Spectacular began on Oct. 5 and will run until Halloween. A funky witch DJs a nightly light show and Halloween dancers perform every Friday and Saturday night. This event closes nightly at park close and at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Shock + Ride Halloween Dance Party also began on Oct. 5 and will run until Oct. 27. Team Nick asks you to join them as they boogie to their favorite Halloween hits. This event includes Nickelodeon character appearances, giveaways and more. The dance party is on Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Both of those events can be found at the South Entrance of Nickelodeon Universe.

Boo-niverse's Halloween magic transformed the classic Log Chute ride into the 'Fog Chute' on Oct. 5. But don't worry, this change is only temporary. As you journey through Paul Bunyan's mill on your floating log, Jack-O-Lanterns will light the way. The Log Chute returns to normal after Halloween.

Weekends at Boo-niverse will include a Double Dare Challenge: Double Scare Edition. Kids can answer trivia, tackle physical challenges, work their way through an obstacle course and get slimed! This event is held on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and can be found in the West Market Square. Your last chance for the challenge will be on Oct. 28.

Pumpkins are the theme of MEA weekend at Boo-niverse. Live pumpkin carvers will be at MOA from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20 and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. The carvers will be making Nickelodeon characters out of their pumpkins in the Blue Spot. An Amateur Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held on Oct. 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rotunda.

The weekend before Halloween, families can walk down the Treat Trail to show off costumes and collect candy at designated treat locations around the park. Participants must buy a wristband from Nickelodeon Universe and supplies are limited to the first 200 people. This event is on Oct. 26 and 27 and runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Boo-niverse ends on Halloween night with Howl-O-Ween Mall-wide Trick or Treating. Kids can get treat bags beforehand in the Rotunda and visit participating stores in the mall for free candy. This event starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.
