INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. — The owner of an Inver Grove Heights massage parlor has been charged Monday with four counts of prostitution, according to Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom.
40-year-old Xueyan Wang was charged with two counts each of promoting prostitution and receiving profit from it.
According to the Dakota County Attorney's Office, the criminal complaint states the following:
In March of 2019, officers of the Inver Grove Heights Police began an investigation into Herb Spa after it was determined that acts of prostitution may bet taking place there.
The business raised suspicion because it had no signage, the door was locked at all times and customers were required to ring a doorbell to go inside.
Additionally, police found a website that had customer reviews of Herb Spa that mentioned the illicit services they had received.
Surveillance revealed that Wang and women working at the business lived there too. The investigation also revealed that Wang frequently made runs to and from MSP- Airport.
Officers executed a search warrant and located two women living inside the business. One woman confirmed she was from California and had been working there since February. She told police she pays Wang rent and that Wang retains half the profits she makes from the services.
Wang's next court appearance is set for August 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in Hastings.
