MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority is taking bids on the work to remove tens of thousands of seats from the Metrodome.
The organization wants the seats removed between Dec. 30 and Jan. 17. The seats will be made available to Minnesota charities and organizations at a cost not to exceed $50 a seat.
The MSFA is telling interested bidders that they have to have "substantial relevant experience" in such a project. And, they have to put up a $2 million performance bond to guarantee the work will get done. The bids are due Friday. The winner will be picked Monday.
Minnesota Public Radio News says individual requests for seats will have to go to the winning bidder.
Minnesota Vikings team officials and others broke ground earlier this month on a new $1 billion stadium.
