MINNEAPOLIS — When it comes to finding a place to put down roots, lots of Americans pick city living.
Not all cities are created equal, as illustrated by the latest survey from WalletHub.
The 2019 'Best Big Cities to Live In' study found that Minneapolis is the 12th best big city in the U.S. to call home.
To create their list, WalletHub compared 62 of the biggest cities in the country (those with more than 300,000 people), based on 56 "key indicators of attractiveness."
According to WalletHub, their "five key dimensions" were affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety.
Within those dimensions, some of the indicators evaluated include cost of living, job opportunities, and quality of public hospital systems.
Here's how Minneapolis ranked across the board:
- Affordability: 33
- Economy: 14
- Education and Health: 11
- Quality of Life: 13
- Safety: 33
In Wisconsin, Milwaukee landed in the 57th spot. Here are their rankings:
- Affordability: 44
- Economy: 50
- Education and Health: 50
- Quality of Life: 36
- Safety: 46
WalletHub also ranked the top five and bottom five cities in several additional categories, including lowest and highest housing costs and most and fewest restaurants per capita.
For 'Best Bike Score,' Minneapolis ranked number one.
When looking at the 'Highest % of the Population Living in Poverty,' Milwaukee had one of the highest rates, ranking 59 out of 62.
