MINNEAPOLIS — If you're choosing to stay in this Valentine's Day instead of chasing the hottest dinner spot, a movie night could be the way to go.
There are so many romantic movies to choose from, but only one reigns as Minnesota's most popular.
That's 'It Happened One Night', says a study by Streaming Observer.
Streaming Observer, a website dedicated to informing consumers who use streaming services, studied data from Rotten Tomatoes and Google Trends to find the nation's most popular romantic movies. Mindnet Analytics also helped study the results.
'It Happened One Night' was made in 1934. It tells the story of a heiress and a newspaper reporter. The movie stars Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable.
The only other state on Streaming Observer's list whose top romantic movie is 'It Happened One Night' is California.
On a list of states with the most interest in date-night films, Minnesota ranks number 17. According to Stream Observer's rankings, Minnesotans aren't crazy about romantic movies but they don't hate them either.
The state that ranks number one on the list of states that love romantic movies is New York. The last on the list is Mississippi.
Overall, the most searched for romantic movie in the nation is 'Titanic.'
