EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The body of an adult man was found Thursday afternoon, near a vehicle belonging to a missing Eden Prairie man, according to authorities.

While authorities have not said the body found is Joseph Best, who was last seen Tuesday, they say an official identification and cause of death will be released at a later date.

The news comes hours after a public search for Best was abruptly canceled.

Family and friends of Best, of Eden Prairie, had been planning to search for him at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Pax Christi Church, 12100 Pioneer Trail, but Eden Prairie Police sent out a notice shortly before that the search had been called off.

Best was last seen by family at his Eden Prairie home at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and authorities said at that time, he may have been in need of medical help.

Best was last seen driving a white 2009 Honda Accord with Minnesota license plate 127HCN. Investigators say Best's vehicle was located in Scott County. The body was discovered at 1:49 p.m. "in close proximity" to the vehicle.

At this point, authorities do not suspect foul play.

The incident remains under investigation.
