MNDOT announces 2019 road construction projects

MNDOT commissioner calls on the legislature for more funding for road construction projects.

Road construction season is actually already here in Minnesota.

Dody Legault lives along I-694 where the dozers and orange barrels persist.

"Exits not here, roads are blocked," said Legault.

Headaches aside, she understands.

"Oh yeah. It needs to be done," said Legault.

Today MNDOT announced their 2019 road construction projects. A total of 221 projects.

Some of them you already know like I-35W.

"I-35 is going to be a challenge this year, please plan ahead," said Chief Engineer Sue Mulvihill.

State Patrol sent our a reminder at todays announcement.

"Have a plan, give yourself extra time where you need to be," said Lt. Gordon Shank with the Minnesota State Patrol.

MNDOT also talked about funding and that proposed 20 cent gas tax hike.

"The roads are at D-plus," said MNDOT Commissioner Margaret Anderson Kelliher.

She says there are more than 500 projects waiting in the wings. She also called on the legislature for more money.
