MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging drivers to prepare for a major interstate closure this weekend. I-35W will close down between I-94 and Hwy 62 on Friday at 10 p.m. and will not reopen until Monday at 5 a.m.
MnDOT advises that southbound I-35W will be open at 46th Street.
MnDOT suggests that if you are coming from the south, take 62W to 100N to 394E to 94E then 35.
If you are coming from the north, take 94W to 394W to 100S to 62E.
MnDOT will open a new bridge at 26th Street at 6 a.m. on Friday before closing down the bridge at 28th Street.
MnDOT tells drivers to plan ahead and give themselves time. There are no plans to postpone this project, and workers will be out there as long as it's safe.
