FOREST LAKE, Minn. - A man who led officers on a high-speed chase through Forest Lake Monday night, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after crashing his motorcycle.
Authorities say the Wyoming Police Department attempted to pull over the motorcyclist around 10 p.m. Monday, after receiving information that he fled law enforcement officials in Anoka County.
Officials say the man brandished a handgun in an incident in Oak Grove and was on the run.
The 38-year-old man, of Coon Rapids, led police on a 5-mile chase, before eventually crashing into a fence off Interstate 35 in Forest Lake.
Authorities say shortly after the crash, the driver ended his life, firing a single shot from a handgun before officers were able to exit their vehicles.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released. No other shots were fired in the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
