Minneapolis City Hall

MINNEAPOLIS - Starting Monday, the bells at the Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse will go silent.

For three weeks, crews will work to reinforce the support system for the tower's 15-bell set. The city says the current system is as old as the building itself. The bells vary in weight from 300 to 7,300 pounds.

The city says the $130,000 project will be covered by The Municipal Building Commission Historic Preservation Fund.
