MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Board of Education approved starting the school year after Labor Day.
In addition, they will maintain a two-week winter break and week long spring break.
These changes will be effective for the following school years: 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Nearly 10,000 people completed a survey regarding their opinions on the new calendar. The survey responses overwhelmingly supported returning the start of school to the day after Labor Day, according to an MPS press release.
