ELY, Minn. - Officials are trying to determine how nearly 5,000 gallons of gasoline leaked from a Holiday Station store in Ely.
The Ely Echo reports the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency learned about the leak after it was reported Monday morning.
The Echo says Mayor Chuck Novak said 4,854 gallons of gas "has permeated into the ground somewhere - we don't know where."
The gas station has been asked to temporarily close as a safety precaution.
The Ely Echo reports some of the gas leaked into an Ely storm sewer and then flowed into Miners Lake.
