MINNEAPOLIS — All week long we've been getting to know new Kare 11 Sunrise team member Gia Vang.
On Thursday she took us to one of her favorite places in the Twin Cities so far, the Midtown Global Market. Gia says she loves the lunchtime hustle and bustle, along with all the amazing smells that can prompt salivating.
"I feel ... at home," she reflected.
Restaurant owner Trung Pham was one of the market's original tenants."There's no franchises here, so it's all family owned business," he told Gia.
Judith Clarke sells her custom-made jewelry at the Market. She says the toughest thing about doing business there is to not spend all her profits on food. "I have to try hard not to go broke trying to make money because I be at one of these places eating," Clarke laughed heartily.
There is no doubt the food offerings are great, the merchandise unusual, but Gia says Midtown Global Market is a great place to witness life.
"There's really a unity here of all different cultures, yes, absolutely and I'm glad you mentioned that because there is a diversity of food and culture in this place," said a world-wise customer. "It makes us understand that we're more alike than we're different."
