Charging decision expected by noon on Thursday in Mankato car seat case

A dashboard camera caught a child in a car seat falling out of a vehicle Monday in Mankato.

Attorneys continue to review whether a mother will face criminal charges two days after dramatic video surfaced showing her toddler falling from a moving car.

Blue Earth County Attorney Pat McDermott told KARE 11 that there will be a charging decision by noon on Thursday. The decision will be posted on the Blue Earth County Attorney.

The dramatic moments were captured on dash cam video as they played out in Mankato just before noon on Monday. The 2-year-old tumbled from the car -- still strapped in her car seat --near the intersection of Cherry Street and Riverfront Drive. Fortunately, she was not hurt in the accident.

But police confirmed for KARE 11 they're requesting two criminal charges in the case, including child endangerment and one related to the improper use of the car seat itself.
