BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - It had all the makings of a heart-warming holiday story, but sadly... fate had other ideas.
A snowy owl freed from the grille of a car after being struck on I-494 Monday night has died of its injuries. Bloomington Police first posted on the department's Twitter account a picture of the magnificent snowy owl calmly posing with the officer who rescued it.
The owl was quickly transported to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center, where he was looked after and cared for overnight. "Unfortunately, his internal injuries were more substantial than we thought and sadly he has passed away," read a new post on the department's Twitter feed.
